Connecting Binance

This guide walks you through connecting your Binance account to TradeStaq for both spot and futures trading.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Binance:

• A verified Binance account
• API trading enabled on your account
• For futures: Futures account activated on Binance

Note: If you haven't enabled API trading, go to Binance → Account → API Management to enable it.

Creating API Keys on Binance

Log into Binance

Go to binance.com and log into your account.

Navigate to API Management

1. Click your profile icon in the top-right
2. Select Account
3. Click API Management in the left sidebar

Create a New API Key

1. Click Create API
2. Choose System generated (recommended)
3. Enter a label: TradeStaq Trading Bot
4. Complete 2FA verification

Configure API Permissions

Enable the following permissions based on your trading needs:

For Spot Trading:

• ✅ Enable Reading
• ✅ Enable Spot & Margin Trading

For Futures Trading:

• ✅ Enable Reading
• ✅ Enable Futures

Note: Never enable Withdrawals permission. TradeStaq does not need withdrawal access and enabling it poses a security risk.

Set IP Restrictions (Recommended)

For enhanced security, restrict API access to specific IPs:

1. Click Restrict access to trusted IPs only
2. Add the following TradeStaq server IPs:
   • Contact hello@tradestaq.com for current IP list
3. Save changes

Save Your Credentials

Copy and securely store:

• API Key (public key)
• Secret Key (shown only once)

Note: The Secret Key is only shown once. If you lose it, you'll need to create a new API key.

Adding Binance to TradeStaq

Open Exchange Wizard

1. Navigate to Dashboard → Exchanges
2. Click Add Exchange

Select Binance

Choose Binance from the exchange list.

Select Exchange Type

Choose your trading mode:

Enter API Credentials

For live trading, enter:

• API Key: Your Binance API key
• Secret Key: Your Binance secret key

Note: For paper trading, skip the API credentials step. You'll receive virtual funds automatically.

Configure Settings

• Exchange Name: Give it a descriptive name (e.g., "Binance Futures Main")
• Default Leverage: Set default leverage for futures (1x-125x)

Review and Create

Review your settings and click Create Exchange.

Verifying Connection

After creation, verify the connection:

1. Check the exchange status shows Active
2. Verify your balance is displayed correctly
3. Click Sync to force a balance refresh

If you see Error status, check:

• API key is correct
• Permissions are enabled
• IP restrictions (if any) include your current IP

Binance-Specific Notes

Spot Trading

• Minimum order sizes apply (varies by pair)
• Some pairs require minimum notional value
• Market orders execute at best available price

Futures Trading

• Default to Hedge Mode for independent long/short positions
• Margin modes: Cross or Isolated
• Leverage up to 125x (varies by pair)

Position Mode

TradeStaq works best with Hedge Mode enabled on Binance Futures:

1. Go to Binance Futures settings
2. Enable Hedge Mode
3. This allows holding both long and short positions

Note: If you use One-way Mode, ensure your bots don't try to open opposing positions on the same pair.

Common Issues

"Invalid API Key"

• Double-check the API key for typos
• Ensure the key hasn't been deleted on Binance
• Verify the key has required permissions

"IP Not Whitelisted"

• Add TradeStaq server IPs to your API whitelist
• Or disable IP restrictions (less secure)

"Insufficient Permissions"

• Check that trading permissions are enabled
• For futures: ensure Futures permission is checked

"Futures Account Not Activated"

1. Go to Binance Futures
2. Complete the activation process
3. Fund your futures wallet
4. Try connecting again

Security Recommendations

1. Use IP whitelisting - Even if inconvenient, it adds significant security
2. Create dedicated keys - Don't reuse API keys across services
3. Enable 2FA - Protect your Binance account with two-factor authentication
4. Monitor activity - Check Binance API logs for unauthorized access
5. Rotate regularly - Change API keys every 90 days
