Connecting Gate.io

This guide walks you through connecting your Gate.io account to TradeStaq for spot and futures trading.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Gate.io:

• A verified Gate.io account
• Level 2 verification (KYC) completed
• API access enabled

Note: Gate.io requires Level 2 KYC for API trading.

Creating API Keys on Gate.io

Log into Gate.io

Go to gate.io and log into your account.

Navigate to API Management

1. Click your profile icon in the top-right
2. Select API Management or API Keys
3. Or go to: Account → API Management

Create a New API Key

1. Click Create API Key
2. Enter a note: TradeStaq Trading Bot
3. Complete 2FA verification (SMS + GA)
4. API Key and Secret will be generated

Configure API Permissions

Enable only necessary permissions:

For Spot Trading:

• ✅ Read (View balances)
• ✅ Spot or Trade (Execute orders)

For Futures Trading:

• ✅ Read
• ✅ Futures or Perpetual Contract

Security: Never enable Withdraw permission. TradeStaq doesn't need withdrawal access.

Set IP Whitelist (Recommended)

For security:

1. Click Edit on your API key
2. Select Bind IP
3. Add TradeStaq server IPs:
   • Contact hello@tradestaq.com for whitelist
4. Save changes

Save Your Credentials

You need:

• API Key (public key)
• API Secret (shown only once)

Important: The Secret Key is only displayed once. Save it immediately.

Adding Gate.io to TradeStaq

Open Exchange Wizard

1. Navigate to Dashboard → Exchanges
2. Click Add Exchange

Select Gate.io

Choose Gate.io from the exchange list.

Select Exchange Type

Enter API Credentials

For live trading:

1. API Key - Your Gate.io API Key
2. API Secret - Your Secret Key

For paper trading, no credentials needed.

Name Your Exchange (Optional)

Examples:

• Gate.io Main
• Gate.io Altcoins
• Gate.io Futures

Review and Create

1. Review settings
2. Click Create Exchange
3. Wait for sync

Verification

After creation:

1. Status shows Active
2. Balance appears correctly
3. Test with Sync button

Troubleshooting

"Invalid Signature" Error

Solutions:

• Check Secret Key was copied correctly
• Ensure no extra spaces/characters
• Verify time synchronization
• Regenerate key if persists

"Permission Denied" Error

Solution:

1. Edit API key on Gate.io
2. Enable required permissions (Read + Trade/Futures)
3. Save and wait 30 seconds
4. Retry in TradeStaq

Balance Not Showing

Possible causes:

• Funds in other sub-accounts
• Balance in margin/lending
• Missing Read permission

Solutions:

1. Check main account balance on Gate.io
2. Transfer to trading account
3. Enable Read permission
4. Force sync

IP Whitelist Blocking

Solutions:

• Temporarily disable IP whitelist to test
• Verify TradeStaq IPs are correct format
• Contact support for IP list
• Check both IPv4 and IPv6

• Create separate keys for different uses
• Rotate every 3-6 months
• Delete unused keys
• Monitor API activity

• Enable 2FA (GA + SMS recommended)
