Connecting Bitget

This guide walks you through connecting your Bitget account to TradeStaq for spot, futures, and copy trading.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Bitget:

  • A verified Bitget account
  • API trading enabled
  • For futures: USDT-M Futures activated
  • For copy trading: Bitget Copy Trading enabled

Note: Bitget requires a passphrase for API keys, similar to KuCoin and OKX.

Creating API Keys on Bitget

Log into Bitget

Go to bitget.com and log into your account.

Navigate to API Management

  1. Click your profile icon in the top-right
  2. Select API Management
  3. Or go to: Account → Security → API Management

Create a New API Key

  1. Click Create API Key
  2. Choose System Generated (recommended)
  3. Enter a note: TradeStaq Trading Bot
  4. Create a passphrase (8-32 characters)
    • Save this securely - you'll need it for TradeStaq
    • Mix of letters, numbers, symbols
  5. Complete email and 2FA verification

Configure API Permissions

Enable permissions based on your needs:

For Spot Trading:

  • Read (Query account info)
  • Spot Trade

For Futures Trading:

  • Read
  • Futures Trade

For Copy Trading:

  • Read
  • Futures Trade
  • Copy Trading (if available)

Security Warning: Never enable Withdraw or Transfer permissions. TradeStaq doesn't need these.

Set IP Whitelist (Recommended)

For enhanced security:

  1. Select Bind IP Address
  2. Add TradeStaq server IPs:
  3. Click Confirm

Save Your Credentials

You need three credentials:

  • API Key (public key)
  • Secret Key (shown only once)
  • Passphrase (the one you created)

Critical: Save all three immediately. The Secret Key is only shown once.

Adding Bitget to TradeStaq

Open Exchange Wizard

  1. Navigate to Dashboard → Exchanges
  2. Click Add Exchange

Select Bitget

Choose Bitget from the exchange list.

Select Exchange Type

Choose your trading mode:

Enter API Credentials

For live trading:

  1. API Key - Your Bitget API Key
  2. API Secret - Your Secret Key
  3. Passphrase - The passphrase you created

For paper trading, no credentials needed.

Name Your Exchange (Optional)

Examples:

  • Bitget Main
  • Bitget Futures
  • Bitget Copy Master

Review and Create

  1. Review your settings
  2. Click Create Exchange
  3. Wait for initial sync

Verification

After creation:

  1. Status shows Active
  2. Balance displays correctly
  3. Try Sync to test connection

Copy Trading Mode

Setting Up as Master

  1. Create Futures Copy exchange in TradeStaq
  2. Enable Master Trader on Bitget
  3. Set profit sharing percentage
  4. Link TradeStaq trades to copy account

Setting Up as Follower

  1. Browse masters on Bitget
  2. Click "Copy" on desired trader
  3. Set copy parameters:
    • Copy amount/ratio
    • Max positions
    • Stop loss settings
  4. Monitor in TradeStaq dashboard

Troubleshooting

"Invalid Passphrase" Error

Solutions:

  • Double-check passphrase (case-sensitive)
  • Ensure no extra spaces
  • Verify it matches the key
  • Regenerate if forgotten

"Insufficient Permissions" Error

Solution:

  1. Edit API key on Bitget
  2. Enable required permissions
  3. Save and wait 1 minute
  4. Try again in TradeStaq

Balance Shows $0

Possible causes:

  • Funds in wrong account (Spot vs Futures)
  • Need to transfer between accounts
  • Missing "Read" permission

Solutions:

  1. Check balances on Bitget
  2. Transfer to correct account
  3. Enable Read permission
  4. Sync in TradeStaq

IP Whitelist Issues

Solutions:

  • Remove IP whitelist temporarily to test
  • Add TradeStaq server IPs correctly
  • Check IP format (IPv4/IPv6)
  • Contact support for IP list

Copy Trading Not Working

Check:

  • Using Futures Copy exchange type
  • Master trader API is active on Bitget
  • Copy trading is enabled on Bitget
  • Sufficient balance for copy orders

Security Best Practices

API Security

  • Separate keys for spot/futures
  • Rotate keys quarterly
  • Delete unused keys immediately
  • Monitor API logs on Bitget

  • Research masters thoroughly
  • Check trading history
  • Start with small amounts
  • Set follower-level stop losses
  • Don't blindly follow

Account Security

  • Enable 2FA (Google Authenticator)
  • Use anti-phishing code
